What is your favorite playground game?

Plan Finland and Ideakoski are compiling playground games from all over the globe for use among Finnish school students. The games will be shared with school teachers and used as a tool in global education which advances better understanding of and willingness to act for global development issues. Plan Finland’s
global education activities are free for end-users, non-commercial and not-for-profit.

Engaging in games from other countries opens children’s eyes to other cultures. Most children’s playground games have a similar fundamental function that children everywhere can relate to. At the same time, the specific rules and characters of the game always tell a tale of local cultures and customs. By playing a game from a different cultural setting, a child will feel closer to his or her peers in other parts of the world. In general, good playground activities also develop a sense of community and strengthens solidarity. Games also promote group activities and treasure local traditions of playing.

According to Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child every child has the right to relax, play and take part in cultural activities.

Enterprising SELF seminar in Kotka, Finland 29.–30.9.2011

A General change in the attitude towards the entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs is needed! 

Idea Deck was introduced to the Enterprising SELF project. During workshop meetings we concentrated on how to activate participants and how to enhance a "can do - will do" attitude with different methods.

The objective of the Enterprising SELF project is to change the attitudes in society towards more enterprising and therefore improve regional competitiveness.

What is Idea Deck and how to use it

In a workshop meeting we tried out a couple of methods. Idea Deck was introduced by the participants; they gave presentations in PowerPoint-karaoke style.
Enterprising education means relevant, inspiring, engaging education for every child and young person and it includes developing the “can do –will do” attitude. Enterprising education is a concept through which young people will become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
